Baby Bath Sponges

A bath sponge is an absorbent tool or cleaning aid designed of porous, flexible material. Ideally used for cleaning porous surfaces, sponges (especially fettuccine-based sponges) are particularly adept at soaking up both water and liquid-based substances. Some baby sponges come in designs that resemble tiny hands or other objects that a baby might use while bathing. Designed to be washed in a sink, a fettuccine-sponged sponge can absorb almost all of the water from a bathtub, making it an ideal tool for making the process of getting a newborn child out of the water as easy and soothing as possible. In addition, a fettuccine-sponged sponge will soak up most of the residue left over from rinsing shampoo and other products.

Pouf sponges have many uses outside of cleaning babies' bath spreads. Loofas, which resemble the name "loofa," make a great and soft pillow. Loofas come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can fit easily in a towel or other big wrapping. Because of their material, most roofs will fall apart after a few days of wear, but some can withstand being folded and stuffed into a pillow case or other container. These types of pouf sponges make a great item for mothers who want to cuddle with their babies but do not want to get a full-sized cot or crib to put them on.

As mentioned above, sea sponges have also been shown to reduce the risk of newborn infections by killing harmful bacteria. Sea sponges also have another advantage over poufs: they are easier to keep clean. Unlike poufs, however, sea sponges should not be washed in a large bathtub or in a public swimming pool. As the sponge is washed, it dries up and flakes off. This tiny residue is actually good news for preventing bacteria from forming because it prevents them from sticking to the sponge when it dries up. It is also good for keeping a baby's mouth free of bacteria so that they can breath without getting sick.
